China Officially Hands Over Emergency Supplies (Tents) to South Sudan

On January 10, 2024, the Handover Ceremony of Emergency Assistance Tentsfrom China to South Sudan was held in Juba. H.E. Amb. MA Qiang attended the ceremony together with Hon. Albino Akol Atak, Minister of Humanitarian Affairs and Disasters Management of South Sudan, Hon. Gatwech Peter Kulang, Chairperson of the Relief and Rehabilitation Commission, and Hon. William Chan Achuil, Undersecretary of MHADM.

In response to the needs of people affected by the floods and the Sudan crisis, the Chinese government donated 8,808 tents to South Sudan.

Amb. MA Qiang emphasized that China has provided emergency assistance to South Sudan for many years, benefiting more than one million people.He also announced that the Chinese Government is willing to provide South Sudan with 980 tons of emergency food assistance to alleviate food insecurity in the first half of this year.

Amb. MA Qiang emphasized that under the Global Development Initiative proposed by Chinese President Xi Jinping, China will continue to support South Sudan in developing infrastructure, expanding trade and investment between the two countries, and jointly promoting South Sudan's economic recovery and growth, and build a community with a shared future for mankind.

The South Sudanese side expressed deep gratitude to the Chinese government for its emergency assistance and promised to make every effort to distribute the tents.
