On April 12, 2024, the Handover Ceremony of China-aid humanitarian assistance to South Sudan was held in Juba. H.E. Amb. MA Qiang attended the ceremony together with Hon. James Pitia Morgan, Minister of Foreign Affairs and International Cooperation of South Sudan.

In response to the needs of people affected by the floods, the Chinese Ministry of Foreign Affairs donated a batch of tents and medicines to South Sudan.

Amb. MA Qiang observed that the flood disaster in recent years is inseparable with the impact of climate change, which is a major issue facing all humankind, with African countries like South Sudan bearing the brunt of it. China will continue to provide support to South Sudan and other developing countries in mitigating the impact of climate change and reducing the risk of natural disasters at its source.

Amb. MA Qiang emphasized that China is actively involved in the cause of humanitarian assistance in South Sudan. In the future, China stands ready to join hands with South Sudan to actively implement the Global Development Initiative, the Global Security Initiative and the Global Civilization Initiative put forward by President Xi Jinping, engage in cooperation in various fields, improve South Sudan's capacity for disaster mitigation and resilience and work together to build a community with a shared future for mankind in the new era.

Hon. James Pitia Morgan appreciated for the donation and stressed that the government and people of South Sudan will continue to develop cooperation with China and deepen bilateral friendship.
